USFL's New Jersey Generals UPDATE - Caden Novikoff signed out of the University of Houston

The New Jersey Generals have officially moved on from kicker Austin Jones and look to bring in a fresh leg to close the season. It was confirmed early Wednesday morning that the USFL's New Jersey Generals have signed Caden Novikoff to their active roster. Let's Discuss that;

After bringing Austin Jones in Week 5 to replace their struggling kicker Nick Rose, the Generals will also move on from him! Jones started the season off strong making 5 of his 7 attempts, and 9 of his 10 PATs. During week 9, however, Jones struggled. he only made 2 of his 4 field goal attempts, and missed 2 of his 3 PATs. Shortly after that game, the Generals announced they would be releasing Austin. Best of luck to Austin Jones. I will be keeping up with what he does moving forward.

So who is the new guy? Let's take a look;

Caden Novikoff kicking off for Houston

Caden Novikoff started his football career with the Trinity Valley Community College all the way back in 2015. He suited up for 10 games and went 9/16 on field goals (56%) and 68/71 on PATs (96%). He played much better the following year in 2016 making 17/19 field goal attempts (89%) and went 67/73 on PATs (92%). After that season, Novikoff was brought to the University of Houston to continue his career.

In Houston, Novikoff played 12 games in 2017. He attempted 15 field goals and made 12 of them (80%). and made 43 (100%) of his PATs. He was kept on the roster through 2018 but was only given kickoff duties that year. He ended up going 1/2 on his field goal attempts on the year. This leaves Novikoff with a career going 39/52 (75%) which statistically is a better percentage than how Austin Jones is performing for the Generals. (63.6%). I am looking forward to seeing how Novikoff plays to end the Generals season!
