USFL Week 7 Special Teams Power Rankings

With only three weeks remaining in the 2023 USFL season, catch a glimpse of the standout Special Team's units that are leaving their mark on the field and fueling the excitement as we home stretch of the USFL season. Here are my (un)Official Week 7 USFL Special Teams Power Rankings;

Kickers

Kickers attempted 19 field goals this week, completing 17, which is good for an impressive success rate of approximately 89.5%. This is slightly above the league average of 84%. Let's see how the USFL Kickers have performed with a look at my (un)Official Week 7 USFL Kicker Power Rankings;

Punters

Punters punted 35 times in week 7, which is the most punts we've seen in a single week! They accumulated 1,610 yards, averaging just over 46 yards per punt. The group had a net average of 39 net yards per punt, which is above average. Only 11 punts remained inside the 20-yard line, which equates to about 31% of all punts. We also had 11 punts travel over 50+ yards, which is both impressive and a league-high. Kickoff Specialists

42 Kickoffs were witnessed this week, accounting for 2,828 total yards. They averaged a. below-average, 67.3 yards per kickoff. 16 of these kickoffs (38.1%) remained inside the 35-yard line, which is slightly above the league average of 35.1%. While most Specialists had a good week, there were also 2 penalties committed, which really hurts your team's field position. Return Specialists

Kickoff Return Specialists

38 Kickoffs were returned, which is about 90.4% of all kickoffs in Week 7, and Returners averaged about 25.8 yards per return, which is about on par with every other week. We had a standout player or two, who were able to rack up 45-yard, 58-yard, and 88-yard long returns. We also had 7 of those returns be for over 30 yards, which was good for about 18.4%. Punt Return Specialists

18 punts were returned this week, which was a league record for most punts returned in a week! It seems that teams are figuring out blocking schemes and getting more confident as the season goes on. There was only 1 punt return that travelled over 15 yards, but it went for 69 yards and was almost a Touchdown. Also, a quick update, Ishmeal Hyman, my second-best returner in the USFL, is now a Mauler. Great job Panthers, you really messed that up. Coverage Teams

Coverage teams as a whole did not play that well. They allowed an average of 25.8 yards on 38 Kickoff Returns, which was roughly average but they accumulated 16 penalties, which is almost the most in a single week (17 in Week 3). They did only allow 7.9 yards on 18 punts, which is about 1 yard below the league average.
